Our Trails
Woodland Trail
The Woodland Trail is a medium difficulty, 5km loop through a beautiful woodland setting. It meanders along trickling streams and glacial hills and touches the Bayfield River.
The Heritage Trail
Follow the Footsteps of the Pioneers. Visitors to Bayfield are attracted by its tree-lined streets, heritage buildings, and the village green, Clan Gregor Square. The 2.5km “Heritage Trail” guides walkers through the full range of Bayfield’s charms.
Mavis / Taylor Trails
These two trails start at the municipal Varna Complex, 5 km east of Bayfield on the Mill Road. Both trails offer relatively easy walking in beautiful woodland settings.
Taylor Trail
This easy, 1km trail has a surface of compacted gravel so that individuals of all abilities, including those in wheelchairs and strollers.
Mavis Trail
Named after community activist Mavis Govier, this 2.5km looped trail offers a more challenging walk to the Bayfield River and back.
Sawmill Trail
This moderate 2km trail starts out on the first pioneer path east of Lake Huron leading from the first ford or crossing point on the Bayfield River.
The River Flats
This easy .7 km walking trail sits on a 4.75-acre riverside property which was purchased through the generosity of the citizens and organizations of Bayfield and surrounding areas.
Tranquility Trail
The Tranquility Trail is located behind the Huron Hospice, and is accessible to staff, patients and family members of the Hospice, as well as to anyone from the community who is looking for a moment of reflection.
