The Bayfield River Valley Trail Association maintains seven recreational trails in and around Bayfield, Ontario.  We schedule over 20 guided hikes each year, giving residents of all ages and fitness levels the opportunity to enjoy the area’s natural beauty.  We are an all-volunteer, registered non-profit organization, dedicated to supporting a healthy and environmentally conscious community.

Founded in 2006, the BRVTA selected sites, mapped, and built the 14 km of trails in collaboration with the Municipality of Bluewater and several very supportive private landowners. The trails are open to the public every day of the year, except for the Woodland Trail during certain hunting seasons.  Our guided hikes often include educational themes and guest experts on topics such as Indigenous history, birds, flowers, mushrooms, and climate change. To join us for a hike on the trails, click on our Events Calendar for dates and locations.  Our monthly electronic newsletter is free for the asking.  If interested, or for any other comments or questions, email us at info@bayfieldtrails.com.

SAFETY ON THE TRAILS

Please be aware that these are recreational nature trails which you use at your own risk. The terrain will be uneven and subject to the weather; sections of the trails can be slippery when wet, muddy after rains, snow-covered and icy in the winter. Please dress appropriately and always wear sturdy footwear and use caution.

Along the trails you can see amazing trees and wildflowers but also some poison ivy. In the summer there is a risk of ticks, especially in areas of thick undergrowth. It is important to stay on the paths at all times.

Please keep your pet on a leash. This protects both your pet and the birds, deer, squirrels, foxes, and possibly coyotes you might encounter.  It also honours the agreements we have with the private landowners who allow our trails to cross their property.  And THANK YOU for picking up your pet waste and taking it with you for disposal.

To keep the trails enjoyable for everyone, kindly adhere to our trail rules:

●            No horses, bicycles, or motorized vehicles.

●            No hunting except with permission from landowners, in season.

●            No fires or camping.

●            Please do not litter, including pet waste.

●            Keep pets on leash at all times.
