Named one of the “greatest living explorers” by Canadian Geographic, Shoalts has written six books and is one of Canada’s bestselling authors.  His career has included mapping rivers, leading expeditions for the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, tracking endangered species, archaeological digs, and completing a nearly 4,000 km solo journey across Canada’s Arctic. In 2022, he set off by canoe 3,400 km from his doorstep to the Arctic.  His most recent book tries to unravel the mystery of lost explorer Hubert Darrell, who vanished near the northern end of the Mackenzie River in 1910.
